Take a break not your rod., November 27, 2006

"Ive been building my own rods for about 20 yrs. now and find its almost as fun to create a rod as it is to use. For the dollar the ST. CROIX II is as good as it gets.The 6' medium power,fast action rod, model # 2S60MF worked great for wipers,white bass and large mouth.If you like to "tuna boat" your fish this rod has plenty of backbone to handle it. The spine is easy to locate and the finish is outstanding. On a recent trip to Harlen Co. Nebraska I let a friend try it out and he swears it was more sensitive than his $200.00 ,(I won't name the brand) rod. And yes he wanted one. I generally just create for myself but hey ,what are friends for?Cabelas has a great line of rod building accessories sure to please anyone who has a wish to build and use thier own rods. And for the dollar you get the best without spending a lot. If you have ever considered trying your own,Cabelas has everything you need to get started and its fun to create a one-of-kind thats uniquely you. Happy Fishin."
