"This particular kit may be fine for very thin blanks. Mine was used for a replacement handle on a graphite rod whose foam handle had deteriorated and the blank was a fairly large diameter. There were problems since this was the first replacement handle that I have ever tried. The cork handle and fore end are extremely hard to drill out straight and the hole is too small for a large enough rat-tailed b*stard file to fit unless drilled. The centering disks for the graphite seat were epoxied in and then drilled out but they disintegrated because of the thickness of the blank required such a large hole. The lower handle was far too short so a replacement was ordered. For the cost of the whole project, a new rod would have been a better bet for me. An experience rod builder would probably have had an easier time. It all worked out in the end."

"I just started using this product on my custom rods. my customers and I are very happy with this product. My only suggestion is that if you're building a 6 to 6 1/2 foot rod Med. action, that you should buy the 7'' rear grip pt# HW-31-5301 on the SHORT SPINNING KIT to achive the right ballance. Graphite arbors are a must to ensure an almost telapathic feel on the water with todays high -modulus rod blanks."
