"This loader does everything needed to reload .38 special and .357 Magmun rounds. The priming function is one of Lee's best. I bought it to "neck size only" for accuracy. I'm not sure that is worth while with a small handgun cartridge. The sizing function sizes the whole case as far as I can tell. The only weakness for me was the depriming punch. I broke it within 30 minutes."

"I love this loader,its a little slow,but I like to be accurate and I don't mind going at a slower pace. Reloaded over 500 rounds of 45/70 Goverment. 300hp,350sp and 500sp with my Lee Loader.Got 2 nice white tails with the 350 Soft Points,both were 75 or less yards.Accuracy was excellent, and one shot kills.The Lee Loader is very simple to use right out of the box.I highly recommend it for the beginner or someone like me who likes to take my time and enjoy reloading.Great product.I own the 45/70,38/357,308 and 45acp Lee Loaders. Good Shooting."

"These are very easy to use you simply need a flat surface and a hammer to start reloading. You cant pump rounds as fast as a press but if your looking for a real cheap way to reload small quantities this is it. I have already suggested one to a friend for his 38 special"

"My father handed this reloader down to me. My main problem with it is that it requires a lot of pounding and noise. Since I live in an apartment, I don't think my neighbors would enjoy my frequent use of this product. After hearing that the primers sometimes discharge, I would have to say that my neighbors DEFINITELY wouldn't enjoy my frequent use of this product.
Also, make sure the primers are set right; otherwise, I have a hard time closing the cylinder on my revolver. Everything else about it seems functional but very slow and a bit imprecise."

"I use the lee loader to reload .30-30 cases for a Marlin 336. It works great. I can get out my components and a rubber mallet and reload a box of ammo at my kitchen table in about 10 minutes. I also use a lee loader to reload .38 special and .357 magnum cases for a Toras revolver. I like not having to use any case lube on the rifle cartriges. The only thing I do different than the instructions is that I like to use a funnel to pour the powder into my cases instead of pouring it through the top of the die. If I pour my powder through the die I have powder grainuals stick in it and fall out on the table or floor when I move it."

"I was sold on this 38 special kit after my friend let me use his to reload a few rounds... couldn't be easier! I immediately ordered one from Cabela's and when I used the decapper, the pin broke. I called customer service to see about getting a replacement, and they sent me a whole new kit... they didn't even want me to send back the first kit. Outstanding customer service to say the least!! I totally recommend this kit and Cabela's."

"I'm interested in reloading, never done it before and the Lee Loader allowed me to try it relatively cheaply. The documentation provided is pretty limited if you are new to reloading, I purchased another reference guide and would recommend those new to reloading to do the same. I also didn't feel very comfortable about the way this kit seats the primers, so I purchased a Lee hand primer (which is faster and I think safer). I also purchased a caliper for measuring. Overall I'm very pleased with the item and I'm planning on purchasing one for my .243. I reload primarily for a cost savings."

"My initial feeling about loading ammo with the Lee loader was not good. I started out with about 30 shells. The hardest part of the whole process was resizing the cases. In the instructions they said it would take a lot of force to pound the shell case into the sizing die. They were not joking. Getting the shell case out of the sizing die was just as hard. I beat the end off my new plastic hammer. After think about the whole process, I decided to try pressing the shell case into the sizing die. That did the trick and made the whole loading process much more enjoyable. I used a 6" C-clamp for my press. To protect the bottom face of the shell head I used a small piece of hard oak wood. I carved out a hole in the wood to keep the shell in one place. To protect the sizing die I used the decapping chamber. To hold the decapping die and the sizing die inline I used a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe (about 1 1/2 inches long). Sand out the center of the pipe to make it easier to insert sizing and decapping dies. Place shell into sizing die, place shell head into hole in wood, and place between the pads of the C-clamp. Tighten C-Clamp until the shell body is inside the sizing die. The only part outside will be the shell head. After installing the new primer, the shell has to be pushed out of the sizing die. Instead of using the priming rod to pound the shell out of the sizing die I used a 1/4" bolt long enough to do the job. I did sand down the end of the bolt to make sure there were no sharp or protruding edges. I then place the decapping die on the end of the sizing die with the shell head and put the bolt into the shell on the other end, along with the piece of would. Placed it all between the pads of the C-clamp and turned the handle until the shell popped out. This may seem complicated, but it really isn't. As indicated in another article, I found that reloading ammo in stages is the best way to go(20-50 at a time). The only problem is that you will need a shell holder and powder funnel. Make sure that the space between shells is great enough to allow the funnel to fit in between. You can make your own shell holder by using a small piece of oak and a 9MM drill 9brad point drill bit)."

"I used this as a first-time loader for 30-06 in my A303 and 30-30 in my Marlin 336 and have gotten excellent accuracy out of the loads. The bullets seat very securely and do not get backed up or loose during cycling, despite not having a crimp. This is minimalist fun, as well. Using only the dippers is fine, as they seem accurate enough, but I use the Lee Safety Scale. The 30-06 is much easier to load than the 30-30 due to the shorter neck: To seat the 30-30 bullet properly without buckling the neck, 30-30 loads must be chamfered well, as indicated in the manual. If buckling is an issue you can always check the bullet during initial seating, before you have gone too far, but chamfering is enough. Have had two out of 80 primers go off WHEN SEATING PRIMER on the 30-30: It requires gentle taps, whereas with the 30-06 will be fine with a couple of firm raps."
