"This hook becomes to dull after a few hook-ups. The wire is to soft and has a hard time "digging in" on small Rockfish or sand bass after two or three fish. I had to change the hook a few times before I went with a heaver wire hook."

"I do a lot of fresh and saltwater fishing in many types of waters. I normally practice catch and release and have found circle hooks invaluable in this type of fishing. I also found when I wanted to fill the cooler, this hook held great, rarely losing a fish. I've been using them for a few years now and prefer them to regular hooks especially because of the high mouth hook ratio. Trying a few brand's hooks, I had the most success with this particular model. I experienced an extremely high jaw hook ratio and the fish seemed to not notice the red color. They come in a wide variety of sizes to accommodate many species and techniques. It would be good to make this hook non-offset, but I don't remember having one of these deep hooked. Also the color will come off pretty quickly especially on the larger sizes. A little red marker will put you back in the action though. Pretty sharp too- I can go through quite a few bony mouthed fish per trip when changing hooks isn't always an option. I use other models from Eagle Claw. Price and quality are great."
