Dutton-Lainson TW9000 electric winch,November 20, 2008
By Lindyladfrom Minnesota
"I purchased this boat trailer winch as a replacement for a different brand of electric winch which I received as a gift. The first winch was not able to pull my boat all the way up the trailer, even though I have an all-roller trailer and my boat weighs considerably less than what the winch is rated to pull. I returned the first winch for a refund and replaced it with a more powerful Dutton-Lainson winch from Cabela's. The new winch lands my boat easily and is much quieter. It also uses a strap instead of a steel cable, which I find to be much easier on the hands and less likely to jam up in the winch housing."

smoking wires on the 9000,August 9, 2008
By zegreek57
"Hello-I'm from Mn and purchased the 9000 model to winch my 16 1/2 foot Lund. After about 1 year the motor got hot and you can smell wires burning. I brougt the winch back to Cabelas and purchased another one. I am pleased with Cabelas customer service as they gave me the new one for the price that I paid in May of 2007. Pete from MN"

Dutton-LainsonWinch TW 4000,July 14, 2008
By Pointer01from Central Wisconsin
"Winch works great, does a good job for me. I don't believe the rope attachment to the switch for a remote control is a very professional idea however and I can't see myself ever using that feature. All in all a great winch for the money."

DL 4000 lb winch works fine but..........,July 5, 2008
By CaptBobHfrom Lancaster, NY
"So far this has worked VERY well. Just one thing that has kept me from giving it 5 stars and that is after spending over $200 a emergency manual handle should be included with this unit as it shows on the picture. Instead you have to come up with something on your own but if you purchased the 9000 lb model you get the handle ? ? ?"

Satisfied with winch,February 21, 2008
By JD123from Cape Coral, FL
"The unit was purchased as a replacement for a 4000 pound power winch. The previous winch did not do the job. This winch is currently handling the load with no problems. I am pleased with the winch at this time."

Lainson Winch,September 10, 2007
By SteelheadJoefrom Delaware Ohio
"The winch was very easy to install. Th ewiring needs to be a little longer and the wiring under the cover needs to be relocated. It interfers with the winch."

Boat winch,July 9, 2007
By huntsafe2003from Weston, WI
"I was a bit dissatified with condition that the winch was in when it came UPS. Return service was great because first unit was bent. Replacement was very prompt and unit works very well. Power cord could be about 2' longer to make things easier."

Winch problems,June 11, 2007
By Johnerfrom New Jersey
"It is nice looking, not much bigger than the manual winch. Good heavy strap and hook. Had a problem with motor not running, had to tap the end of the motor to get it to run, brush must have been hanging up. Was able to use the power from the trolling motor instead of fooling with truck wiring. Good length of of wiring, plug could have been stronger. The wiring inside of the cover was not secured good started to rub on the gears, reruted the wiring and added extra anchors to hold wiring."

Electric Winch Installation,April 16, 2007
By MikesBoatfrom Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada
"Have installed my new winch and tried it in the driveway but not under load yet - BUT - I do have some comments re installation. The wire included in the kit is not long enough to reach from the battery in the front of a Dodge Ram 350 to the winch! In addition, DL assumes you have a trunk to store the coiled up wire - all of us pick-up truck boaters (and there are a lot of us) need a quick-connect at the back bumper. I purchased the parts to do this, and extend the wire, at my local auto parts jobber for about $50.00, but it was difficult to locate a quick-connect heavy duty enough to carry the large current carried in the #8 supplied cable. It would be a very nice touch if DL was to include a quick connect kit in the package. Despite this, it seems like a great product"
