Taco Solid All Purpose Glyde-Sliks,
September 1, 2009
By Heardy

"These Glyde-Sliks work extremely well. I put these on top of the carpet on the bunks of my trailer for my Startos 176XT.
Before, I had to sink the trailer up to the top of the tyre guards to drive off the trailer and similarly to drive on. Took a lot of power from the outboard. There was no way I could launch the boat without using the outboard to power off without backing in even further.
Now, I can release the winch and when I wind down, the boat slides easily without pushing at all. I can now retrieve just using the winch if I can't power on. When driving off I have to go forward to unhook the winch strap and I don't have to use reverse to power off. It just slides off. Fantastic.
The downside relates to quality control by TACO. One of the sections was chamfered on the ends on the wrong side. They don't supply enough screws to fit all the sections. Make sure you check you have enough screws before taking the boat off to fit the Glyde-Sliks. Fortunately I had my lovely wife with me as I had to leave her with the boat, unhitch the trailer and drive to the nearest hardware store to get more screws."

Great intermediate product,

"We instaled and used these a few times. I will say that they still don't let the boat on and off the trailer as easy as rollers would, but it is much better then just the bunks. They are very easy to install, just need to have the boat off the trailer. So had someone take the boat out while I installed them. In all it took me about half an hour to install two rows per bunk. All in all a much better choice then buying a new trailer while still getting around putting up with bunks."

"I bought the glides for a friend who needed his trailer boards replaced, he loves launching his bass boat places that have no ramps and I thought this would help. The glides worked great and it was much easyier to get the boat off and back on the trailer. If you are thinking of buying this product go for it you will not be unhappy you did."

great but a bit pricey,

"The glyde-sliks are a perfect answer for my flat bottom C- dory. I launch off my steep gravel beach in Alaska and they are not kidding about securing the boat before moving. They are so slick that I have to keep her in gear at 1200 rpm , jump out and attach the winch hook before I cut the engine. First time she just slid back off the trailer when I powered down. 3 minor issues. a bit pricey. should make them in 4 inch wide strips for larger boats (or heavy ones like mine when fishing) and supply screws at least 3.5 inches long, even longer to anchor the sticks in place forever! I ripped out a strip after about the 30th docking."

Sticky Boat,
August 28, 2008
By NBTRAVELLER

"I have a 20 ft deep V aluminum boat with a 150 hp motor. The trailer has carpeted wood bunks. The boat would really stick to the carpet when it dried making it hard to launch. I had to be in water over the trailer fenders and still had to apply a lot of power to get it off the trailer unless it floated. With the Glyde-Sliks installed I still don't have to worry about it sliding off & I still can't push it off if it's not floating some, but I can launch in about a foot less water & need far less power to get it off the trailer. I would definitely recommend these to anyone having a bunk trailer that's hard to launch from."

Kayak slide,
March 18, 2008
By Speedy1
from Moses lake, WA
|
"Glyde-Sliks were used to fabricate a system to get our kayaks to the water without having to carry them down over the rocks. Using 2, 2x4s 12 feet long spaced about 20" apart, we made a launch ramp and we simply attached the Glyde-Sliks to the top edge of the 2x4s. No damage to the boats and much easier on us. They can also be retrieved the same way, up the ramp. The Glyde-Sliks have little or no friction, making them perfect for our application."

excellent product,

"This product has worked really well for me. I did double them up on the bunk because of the weight of the boat. I have an 18.5' center console. The boat was very hard to launch and load before, but now I can back the boat up into the water, unhook the boat and push it off of the trailer with one hand. The important part here is that I put the boat in the water before I unhooked it. I have heard some real life horror stories about people unhooking the boat then backing them down the ramp and the boat not making it to the water. In my opinion this would have to be a very steep ramp, but I am not taking any chances. This is a great product and very easy to install. I would recommend this product to any one."

Fentress Solid All Purpose Glyde-Sliks,
September 11, 2007
By 6Ducks

"This is an outstanding product. The "Fentress Solid All Purpose Glyde-Sliks" have a wider width than most similar products. This helps to support and spread the load on your boat hull. Caution... don't disconnect your bow strap until you are backed into or very near the waters edge. Your boat will slide off the trailer with very little effort. You don't want to launch your boat in the parking lot. I won't own a boat trailer without these installed. Sure makes launching and loading your boat a breeze; especially helps at those shallow angled boat ramps!"

"The Glyde-Slikes are so easy to put on it only toke me minutes to install! They make unloading and loading a 20.5 foot fishing boat with a 225 motor and all the goodies on it a breeze! My old bunk boards with the carpet were only 4yrs old and the carpet was ripen off and marking up the bottom of my boat until I got the Glyde-Silks! It's a great product and I think if you got a bunk trailer it's a must!"

solid -all purpose?,

By barefootcrabber

"The title or name of this product is decieving in as much as they are called solid, when in fact they are grooved or slotted down the middle lenght wise where the mounting screws are installed. This means that the edges are raised lenght wise which is where the boat hull rests, which would be OK for a fairly light hull, but no good for a heavy one which could crush the raised edges. Solid means "Solid" one piece construction sliks with counter sunk & beveled screw holes for bunk mounting, and are capable of supporting a heavy boat hull without being crushed. The barefootcrabber"
