"Works great. If you have room on your trailer tongue for a horizontal spare, there's no reason to spend money on anything else, unless you're in an area that you'd have to worry about theft. I'm not, so I didn't pay the extra for the locking one."

"When I opened the package, one of the nuts would not screw onto the threads. The threads on the nut were partly stripped and did not match the threads on the u-bolt part. I took the u-bolt to the hardware store to get a new nut, but they did not have any nut to match the threads on the u-bolt. Not even metric sizes would match. I wound up throwing the whole assembly away."

"The economy Spare tire carrier is an effective secure method of fastening a spare tire to your trailer.
I use an appropriate length chain & a pad lock to prevent theft while my Surburban & tailer are parked for long hours of darkness prior to my duck hunting mornings.
I never have to deal with a lose spare tire bouncing around distructively or taking up decoy space in my vehicle or trailer. Or worse, forgetting it that "only time" I have have a flat. It is always attached to the trailer.
