"Installation is a snap and they work great to keep the sun off. Just be careful in gusty winds, I took them down when it kicked up just to be on the safe side. Also it would be nice if you could adjust them side to side also instead of just forward and backwards."

"Just tried my boat seat umbrella when the sun began to heat up the day. It's quick and easy to insert and deploy in the seat back bracket. When moving forward into the sun, It shaded my head and upper body very well, keeping me at a comfortable temp. Going away from the sun was even better as I was about completely shaded and with a light breeze I was very comfortalbe. It doesn't sit all that high above your head but it didn't interfer with fishing activity in a seated position. One thing to watch for....if you get up from the seat the wind will turn the seat and fold the umprella and seat back down as it catches the breeze. I don't think this set-up would work very well in a stiff breeze like any umbrella. I like it for it's convenience and ease of use. I also sport a bimini cover but it does not give you any shade on the front seat when trolling into the sun so now I have options."

"Mounting the bracket to a plain plastic seat required a slight modification to get it to fit.
most golf umberellas have handles that are to big,but with a little work it is good to go.
works really well in keeping sun off and not bad for rain also.
would buy another one for the other seat."

"Pivots in one direction only. It should be relatively simple for the manufacturer to design a dual pivot system which would make prositioning the umbrella much more effective. Too bad this was not done."

"The umbrella holder was simple to install. The poles of the large umbrellas that I have are too small for the holder, but I have found that I could place a piece of shimmed wood in and it works great. I like these so much better than the holders that attach to the base of the seat and these are SO much cheaper!!!"

"This is just the thing I have been waiting for. The big advantage of this over buying a tarp for the whole boat is no tie downs running up and down or poles in the way. You can adjust it back and forth. and it easly stores away. Where your bimini tops lay out on your boat when they are down, have poles in your casting way, and tie downs. Plus its alot cheaper, and you can move the ummbrella from seat to seat. All oyu need is extra bases on your other seats. Great product. Thanks The shadefisherman"

"I found the product to be very susceptible to wind damage.
The umbrella collapsed over itself in a very moderate wind, and was unrepairable. It works very well in calm weather, but can not be used if there is any wind at all.
The major problem with the umbrella itself is the way the arms are wired to the circular rings; I found that the wire used was not very strong, and did not hold up.
The brackets are very durable, and very easy to mount to the seat backs."
