"My boat came with this type of pedestals, but I always wanted some taller ones. I think the ones I had were 13" tall. I'm going to replace them with these taller adjustable ones and I'll be happy! I really like this system. I can quickly remove the seats and store the pedestals out of the way in the boat, and quickly put a seat where I need it. I'm very happy to have found these tall pedestals so my seats will have a lot more versatility. Yaa Hoo."

Adjustable Seat Pedestal Is "Almost" Excellent,August 27, 2009

"This pedestal is pretty good but not as convenient as a pneumatic pedestal. I chose this one, however, because I'm just over 6' tall and the pneumatic seat pedestals on today's market are no longer tall enough to support me as I lean against them while maneuvering my foot-controlled trolling motor in strong river current. (I think the manufacturers assume the fisherman is going to sit on the seat atop the pedestal but all tournament bass fisherman I know use the seat for leaning against, not sitting on. Pneumatic pedestals normally extend to 29.5", which makes them hit low enough against your leg to be a hindrance, not a help, while you're standing to fish. They need to extend to at least 32".)
This manually adjustable pedestal extends to 30" (which is BARELY tall enough), but making the manual adjustment is time-consuming and not terribly easy because there is no easy way to align the holes in the pedestal as you insert the retainer pin. You can do it, its just not easy, particularly if the boat is rocking due to wave action.
To make this an "Excellent" product, I'd like to see the manufacturer extend its reach to at least 32" in height, then include some kind of alignment marks to help you quickly locate and align the holes for the retention pin."

"I purchased a manual adjustment pin pedestal because after talking with friends, they said the hydraulic pedestals get stuck and don't last thru many fishing seasons. This one is great and I can adjust it to any level that I need. Adjustment is easy and can be done in 1" increments."

"I like this pedestal, sure you have to take a couple of extra seconds to adjust it, but you don't have to worry about it rusting up on you, with a cost somewhere to 3 times for the other one. The lowest setting is perfect for me to sit comfortably (I'm 6') and the highest setting lets you lean into it when needed. I like it....."

"I purchase one of these, and am happy with the pedestal itself. It is sturdy, and fairly adjustable. One odd thing with it is, when extended all the way, wind blowing across the holes will make it whistle, and almost sound like a flute."

"Although the product seemed sturdy and of decent quality, it is way too high. I am nearly 6'-4" and my feet were not even close to touching the floor of my boat. This would be a great pedestal if you are 8'-0" tall."

"The reason I chose this product was not for what it was originally designed for. I love to hunt and fish and spend alot of time doing it with my kids. I was in the process of building a homemade tree stand for bow hunting and was in the market for an adjustable chair that would be easy for my kids and I to use and adjust. I spent hours looking through hunting catalogs to try find something. Then, fishing one day it hit me that the seat I was sitting on (or something like it) in the front of the boat would work perfectly. I orded the Cabels's Pro Pedastal Boat Seat in the Max-4 color along with the Swivl-Eze Boat Pedestals and Bases and had just what I was looking for. With hieght adjustments from the pedastals I had the perfect hunting seat for my home made deer stand to alow me to have a comfortable seat high enough so that I was almost standing so when a dear came in I could slowly move from my seat and be ready to take a shot. Then, when my kids wanted to use it I simply shortened the pedestal for them. It was the perfect solution for my needs. Not to mention, with it's versatility and comfort, the seat is not only used in my home made treestand, but in my duckboat for duck hunting and all summer long in the fishing boat. For me it was the perfect choice."
