Waterproof Hatch is Excellent,

"I recently purchased the large Sure Seal Waterproof hatch for my 18 foot aluminum fishing boat. I added this hatch to provide easier access to the barrery compartment. The original design of the boat required the battery access from the side of the rear area of the boat. I added this Sure Seal Hatch so as to get access from the top of the battery compartment and get easier access to the battery connections. This hatch installed very easily and after 2 weeks of use appears to be an excellent modification to my boat."

New compartment with Hatch Lid,

"I just installed my hatch lid and pleased with the appearance and overall usage of the product. I weigh 245 pounds and it supports me when I jump up to the deck of my Ranger, which I needed a step-up and now have a step-up with enough storage for about 10 Plano 3600s. I have purchased a smaller hatch lid for another boat, but am more pleased that the opening on this one is much bigger. I'm glad I bought it, and glad to have friends who can install things!!"

"I just installed 3 of the Sure Seal Storage Hatches. Thus far they seem like a great product. I didn't have any problem cutting holes and installing. After reading other reviews I was concerned about the hinges, but I found no such faults. The fact that these hatches come with built in locks is a sure bonus. This makes them a great value relative to comparable hatches."

"These are made quite a bit better than some I've used in the past from other manufacturers. The first one I received was damaged in shipping but Cabela's quickly sent out a replacement so overall a satisfactory purchase experience."

"Throw away the cutout template that comes supplied, its to big. Make your own template after carefully measureing the the hatch portion that goes through the hole. Make the hole on the small side. More material can be removed if needed. Better than making the hole to big. I installed 3 in my boat and they fit good."

"We purchased a smaller boat that had very little storage. We found two spots in the real tiller seats that did not have foam in them. We installed a hatch in both seats. These hatches were very easy to install and worked perfect for our application. We ordered an insert for one of the hatches...the other we just installed the hatch without the insert."

"I was not aware of all the features included on this hatch. It was not clear that there was a locking mechanism. I contacted the manufacturer and was assured that the mechanism would stand up to a saltwater environment even thoiugh it was magnetic. I did not want a lock but that was my fault. After installation, I noted that the edges flex. I am sorry I installed it but I am stuck with the installation in the front deck of my skiff. I will look elsewhere for a slightly larger frame size with a slightly more shallow depth so I can replace this unit during the next off-season."

"hatch is good quality and easy to install but the liner is flimsy and misshapen. I bought two and both the liners were bent inward along the edges. i reccomend the lockable hatch but not the liner."

Be careful with the template,

"These hatches are good value for the money. However, the template can throw you off. The cut lines on the cardboard template are over an 1/8" thick. So the difference between the inside dimension of the cut line and the outside is a little over 1/4". If you use the outside of the template to cut your boat, the opening will be too big to take the screws.
Other than that, installation was easy."

"I used the template provided to cut the hole for the hatch then inserted the hatch in the hole. Oh no! The hole is too big to accept screws all the way around the hatch. Recommend the box and template find their way immediately to the fire place, and measure the hatch yourself before cutting the hole. Otherwise the product is fine."

"The locking waterproof sure seal hatches are a must have for all boaters. You can store your valuable items in these storage areas and not have to worry about them getting wet. If you leave your boat unattended you can also lock them up and not worry about them getting stolen. You can also keep your lunch or snacks dry. The hinges seem very durable and doesn't show any sign of breaking down. The material the product is made out of is very durable and you can choose between white, ivory or dark gray. You also have the choice of different sizes as well and whether you want ones that lock or do not lock. For anyone who spends any amount of time in their boat should invest in these storage compartments."
