"This fly box allows one to place the hook of the fly between the foam nubs instead of piercing the foam. This means that the foam will last indefinitely since it is not being destroyed, slow but surely, like a conventional fly box. It is easy to open, unlike my SA waterproof boxes. The only small drawback is the fact that the fly lies flat on the foam, so dry fly hackles and tails get a little squeezed. This is a good box and a great bargain!"

"I own several of these boxes and I wouldn't go to the stream without them. They are durable and hold pretty many flies. The boxes may not be the prettiest thing, but for a serious angler like me I prefer performance over looks."

"Great boxes. The nubbs hold the flies pretty tight ( I dropped the loaded flybox and all the flies were still in their grooves). They hold alot of flies which is good if you tie them yourself as I do. You can load top & bottom. They should last a lifetime, since they never dig into the nubbs, but sit between them. I would recommend these."

"I ordered the medium size box and I find it holds a large number of flies from size 12 to 2/0. I like the nubby tack as it is gentle on the flies and also doesn't get damaged itself.
The lanyard loop is handy to prevent dropping it in the water and it is easy to open.
Like some of the other reviewers, I find it a bit heavy compared to other styles, otherwise I would have rated it 5 stars, but am pleased with the purchase."

"I like the nubby part for the hooks as it is easy to get the hooks in and out without trying to get them stuck into something. I ordered the large box and have over 150 flies that are not laid ed down messing up the hackle and other things you don't want crushed. I don't know how the plastic box will hold up if abused, but even the metal ones bend, so that is why the 4 stars. I do like the fact it is made in the USA."

"This summer I tied up a bunch of large flatwings in anticipation of the Fall northeast striped bass run. Some of these flies are 7"+ long. This is one of the few boxes I found that can hold flies this long box is nice an deep as well. Nubby tac is nice, as it won't get torn up by large SW hooks. Only downside is box is slightly on the heavy side, so might get a little heavy if your on foot."

"I have several of these that I bought years ago. They have held up well and work better than any other fly boxes I have used, especialy for large flies. The nubbys hold the flys great. You can hold the box upside down and shake them hard and the flies stay in place, even heavy weighted flies. This is very important when you change flies in the middle of a stream or if it is windy. I have dropped these boxes on rocks and they still look and work great. They take good care of my fly collection and work great. I highly suggest that you look at these well made boxes."
