Drift sock Cabelas,
July 11, 2009
By Pescar
from California
|
"Good product, allowed us to drift slowly across reefs to fish for pike on our recent Canadian trip. However, seems that chart sizing is off, always buy next larger size. Also I noted tendency to twist in the water which did not impact efficiency."

drift sock,
April 20, 2009
By concordwizard
from Lynchburg, Virginia
|
"Item is excellent however if I could do it over I would "upsize". I think the boat size to sock size is off. Also I punched a hole and added a very large bobber to keep the sock from going too deep. The bobber also allows me see where the sock is when it is in the water."

Really works,
September 9, 2008
By gurgen
from Istanbul Turkey
|
"The product does the job as promised. I lost one because of my own fault, maybe a floating model would help. I am using it regularly for slowing down my trolling speed of my 18 hp. Easy to adjust according to current, tie it short for less slowing power, tie it long for more slowing power. Never forget to take in before opening the throttle!"

Drift Sock,
August 18, 2008
By Woodteaser
from Fenton, Michigan
|
"I wanted to make my boat go sideways to the wind so that three people could cast from it. I also wanted to slow the boat down to allow us to make more casts downwind before we drifted over the area. My boat is 16" aluminum with a 50 Yahama and drifts very fast. By making a bridle from the front bow cleat to the stern cleat I was able to slow the drift down to about 1/3 the speed it went without the sock. I am extreamly satisfied with the way it works and it's quality."

Good product for trolling, but watch nylon straps!,
June 9, 2008
By mbenf
from Rochester, NY
|
"This is the 2nd set of these I have purchased in 2 years. The ones I bought last year I used one weekend, then put away for the season, clean and dry. This spring, the nylon lines connecting the sock to the clip had all disintegrated! I am not sure if the exposure to sunlight for 4 straight days did this, but if so then it's a lousy design, because the straps are naturally near sunlight while being used on a boat! I will give this product one last chance, then spend the $$$ on a kicker OB motor if they fail again."

Cabela's Drift Sock used for Walleye on Erie,
May 27, 2008
By Boondocker
from Bourbonnais, IL
|
"This is a pretty straight forward device that is well made from quality components. Bigger is always better as the sock can be partly collapsed but can never be made bigger. I ran a rope inside the sock from the large end and tied it to a handy loop provided on the opposite end. This works better I think then to use the provided strap to collapse the sock. Make sure you use different colored rope so you don't pull the wrong one."

Cabelas drift sock,

By sltwtrfshrmn

"The cabelas drift sock I purchased helped me control my boat in 15mph wind and keep my bait in the strike-zone with minimal weight. Today it allowed me to catch my limit of 12lb lingcod, and without it I couldn't have fished."
