"I almost didn't buy this based on some of the other reviews I read. I am so happy I gave it a shot. I simply discarded the clamp and mounted the base directly into my desk with four screws. And the problem some folks have with the head not staying in place is likely thier fault. There is a lockwasher you have to use when the head is installed. If you put it on the outside next to the thumbscrew it does nothing. You have to put it inside the frame against the post on the head. I absolutely love this lamp and would suggest it to anyone."

"I was extremely disappointed with this lamp.
I had all of the problems mentioned in the other reviews. This is the poorest quality item I have ever purchased from Cabelas. I would not recommend this item to anyone."

"Truly not the quality merchandise I am used to from Cabela's. The springs are not strong enough to hold the heavy lamp in place. I had to jam wedges in the arm hinges to get them to hold. The C-clamp does not hold and will slip when you attempt to turn the lamp for a better view. If you are willing to put up with these problems, buy it. If not avoid it like the plague."

"Only piece of junk I ever bought from Cabela's. It won't stay in positon what ever I do . I even tried changing the screw tt is suppose to hold it in position. However , I will continue to shop with Cabela's . I know I could have returned it . It just wasn't worth the trouble . I also should have known tt for the price it cudn't be very good ."

"The lamp is very light weight. The main drawback is that the spring-joint and clamp (that hold the magnifying glass at eye level) is too weak to hold it up. I had to replace the hardware to even get it to somewhat hold itself up. It would be a great unit if the locking mechanism was heavier and stronger.

"I would not recommend this lamp. The construction is very poor. The plastic base broke 2 days after I purchased it. The springs are weak and do not hold the lamp in position. Better spend a little more money and get a better quality lamp."

"It does everything it says....but, it is of poor quality. The middle elbow won't tighten down enough, so the lamp won't stay where you want it. You spend more time playing with the lamp than you do working on your project."

"This product is nice but not ideal if you're like me and live in a small space. because of my lack of a separate tying room, I'm constantly breaking down and setting up my "fly tying station". The only thing bad I can say about this product is that the clamp could be easier to attach and remove. When the product first shipped the nuts on the hinges weren't tight enough to hold the lamp in one place, but and easy twist of the wrench and that problem was no more. I bought this product on sale and all in all it was worth it."
