Already paid for itself,
April 29, 2008
By ShoalMan

"I have a Carolina Skiff. I installed the River Runer for fishing trout in North Arkasas. I put in at a boat dock and did a quick turn around (right at the waters edge.) and heard the horrible noise of metal meets concrete. I checked and found a few scuffs on my new River Runner that I buffed out with my finger. Awesome product! The pictures don't do it justice. This thing is THICK and TOUGH! Thank You Max... whoever you are."

This one saved our bacon,
September 1, 2009
By biggestkahuna

|
"Purchased this River Runner to replace the previous one which literally saved our bacon when we struck a submerged boulder (or piece of rip rap) in an absolutely unexpected place. Fortunately we were in a no-wake zone and were throttled down. Upon striking the boulder, the back end of the boat raised and we got over it. Later we discovered that the River Runner had taken the full brunt of the impact and the horizontal piece that is positioned under the prop cracked off leaving the prop entirely intact. Since we were 7 or 8 miles away from camp, you can imagine how thankful we were!"

Prop Saver,
July 14, 2009
By Jernigan
from Alachua, Florida
|
"I recently purchased a Stainless Steel prop for my 60 hp Evinrude. Before I put it on I installed the Mac River Runner. I have used it several times in the Gulf of Mexico and am very pleased with it as it has prevented me from damaging my prop.
I would recommend the Mac's River Runner to anyone that has a chance of hitting rocks or stumps."

sadly mistaken,

"I bought this item for use on my 1989 15HP Gamefisher outboard. As it turns out, it DOES NOT FIT this motor, as the skeg is too small for the plate.
I then mounted this device to my old Merc 110 9.8HP. It fit fine. On my first trip on the Susquehanna with the plate installed, my brother-in-law had a bottom strike, and instead of a bent/broken prop/skeg, I've now got a trashed motor as the river runner allowed a sizeable rock to wedge between the prop and lower "guard" plate and the prop shaft is now bent over 1/8" off-center. I suspect that I may have some shaft bearing damage as well. The prop shaft is no longer available for this motor, and I may be S.O.L. on fixing this motor.
This product may work in mud and sand, but NOT on a river with a rocky bottom. VERY DISAPPOINTED."

"So far I am very pleased with the mac's river runner. I purchased it because I broke my skeg in half. I needed a little extra protection. It seems to work very well around logs and shallows. Very easy to install. Everyone that runs a boat on a river should have one. I had to learn the hard way....great product...."

"Skeg guard is tough, worth the money. Easy to install, instruction small but look at picture and you can figure it out. Saved me already, river running and hit a gravel bar with medium rocks, up came motor but not a scratch or ding on the prop!"

"bought a new prop and figured i needed something to protect it. seeing as i am running in the snake river where there are alot of rocks. Put the macs river runner on and it has paid for it self in only a couple of uses, dont know if it creates drag or not because i also put the hydrofoil sport 200 and it might cause the drag. all in all it is an excellent product."

"I would recommend this product to any one who drives a boat through any obstacles. It cost a lot of money to replace props especially the stainless kind. This product will save you a lot of money and head aches. Would definitely put one any boat that has a propeller, because accidents happen. Will help save your out drive. Hope this review helps somebody buy one. oh, and installation is very easy. I have a 165 horse mercruiser and the older props and out drives are pricey."

Excellent Insurance,

"I have used my boat several times this summer since installing the Mac's River Runner. I have a 15' aluminum jon boat with a 25 hp outboard. I mainly use it for duck hunting. I ran my boat through shallows, over rocks and through mud just to test the prop protection. I feel very confident that when the water is cold this winter, the Mac's River Runner will keep me from getting stranded due to a broken prop. Thanks for the extra confidence."

"I have purchased 5 Mac's River runners. I use them on my 9, 15 and 25 hp motors. I gave 2 away as gifts to fellow fisherman on the Norfork and White rivers in North Central Arkansas. I would not motor without one . Extreemly dependable and they take a lot of abuse in low water conditions."

Not so good with older Evenrude motors,
February 20, 2008
By MikeJon
from Modesto, CA
|
"I purchased this for an Evenrude 1980 25hp motor. My skeg is too short to mount the way it was intended. I am not going to return it though because I am going to modify it to fit my application. It is larger than I thought and it is designed for outboards with large and deep skegs. It sure looks and feels sturdy. If you have an older motor with a short skeg, be prepared to spend some time on the grinding wheel."

"This propeller saver was a peace of mind, when i went to the river; prior to this time i went to a lake, i thought i was far enough from the adge of the lake when suddenly the propeller was rubbing sand and for few seconds i thought i was geting stuck, it took some of the paint from the propeller, but i was glad that is all was don! Now no more fear!"
