It works but,August 27, 2009
By BTDT
"It is pretty flimsy, holds motor ok but setting up steering rod to main motor is a task and when you turn the main motor the bracket is so flimsy it absorbs most of the turn so the kick motor hardly turns. You get what you pay for. I'll keep it and use it but if you want to buy a real good one get one that is wide and sturdy."

buy only 20hp model,August 6, 2009
By klwaldfrom monroe michigan
"This mount works well I have a 9.9 mercury on it was easy to set up but Iwould only recomend the 20hp spring assist model which I have It takes a little effort to raise the motor with the spring assist I can't imagine lifting a motor without the help of the spring I wouldn,t even consider the other model. that explains the four stars"

Panther Outboard Motor Bracket,May 6, 2008
By Wonka1from California
"When I received the package it had no instructions and no hardware and all the hardware on the bracket was very loose. Panther's web site was not helpful at all. Their service department was able to e-mail me the monting instructions which were crude. Cabela's customer service department was very helpful and offered to reimburse me for the cost of the hardware."

Watch out,April 29, 2008
By Dreamr71from Roselodge, OR - coastal fisherman/watersports
"Make sure that when you lower motor into water that your fuel line is in an area that it will NOT get pinched off. Other than that a good product."

W/out springs, the upto10 HP unit doesn't cut it!,January 17, 2008
By Betowessfrom Skagit County, WA
"Though very solid, I find this unit is extremely difficult to raise since this bracket is "springless". Its hard enough to do it on the beach with a 57 lb. outboard and near impossible on the water. I am going to go with a different fixed bracket for a 5 hp 4 stroke 57 lb. kicker and just tilt it.It might be OK with lighter 40 lb. 2 stroke."

Auxiliary Outboard Adjustable Motor Brackets,November 21, 2006
By Encorefrom Hubbard Lake, MI
"I found the concept of this bracket to be well designed but, the weights stated for this bracket is much too high. Using a small 4-stroke outboard as a kicker, the springs which are designed to help raise the motor are not strong enough and should be stronger. Also, the handle return spring has fallen out a couple times. Fortunately, both times it has fallen out the boat has been in the garage."
