"The hardest part of this was mounting it so it aligned with the keel of the boat. After that, it has proven to be a help in navigation especially during low visibility periods on a big lake.
We just decide on a correct heading, and then steer the boat accordingly. The compass has an easy to read dial.
One point I would stress, although it is mentioned in the instructions, is to be sure there is no electrical equipement (windshield wiper motor, electronic tachs, etc) in the immediate area of the compass. Whether they are being used or not, the electric units cause this compass to deflect from original headings."

"I intend to return. From the product description I was hoping to successfully mount in my Toyota Highlander. I was hoping the lighting would be battery powered. It is not. It is not feasible to wire into Highlander, as far as I could determine. Holding the unit on the dash as we travelwed it just did not respond in a way we liked."
