good for the price,May 12, 2009
By elginorfrom ne OR
"i bought these on sale in sizes 4 & 6 for use as small tube fly hooks, expecting to put a bit of work into them. i pinch the barbs down - the temper of the steel is good on these as determined by the barbs bending, rather than snapping as they do on hooks that are too hard. these also require that the eyes be squeezed closed. they also have to be sharpened, but this is common on many hooks. i would rather sharpen them than have the factory do it with chemicals which make the hooks brittle. in all, a little bit of work for a great deal of $ saving. good deal."

Alaska Open Eye Hooks,August 7, 2007
By redfeatherafrom Colorado
"I have changed all of my lures to a single hook and bend the barb down so there is less stress on the fish when I release them, also you don"t tear their mouth up. Any one who says you need treble hooks to catch a fish are wrong. I only wish the hooks were easier to find in the catalogue."

Alaska Hooks,April 4, 2007
By CrewOfTwofrom Lake Michigan
"The hooks are not bad, but not as user friendly or as sharp as similar Gamagatsu Siwash Hooks. My biggest complaint is that the loop end is not large enough to fully close and a size 4 or 5 split ring without some serious bending. I'll be getting hooks wet soon and will follow up with more details."

Great Hooks!,February 25, 2007
By yellowbird3from Truckee, CA
"These are excellent hooks for trout and salmon fishing in lakes. I have used them extensively for trolling and casting for the last 6 years and have caught hundreds of fish with them. I have tried Gamakatsu and Mustad, but prefer these for their shape, sharpness, strength and price. Gamakatsus are very sharp, but are also very soft, have a short point, a tiny barb and are expensive. These are outstanding hooks to put on any spoon, apex, or plug."
