THE FIRST ORDER WAS RIGHT F16-2623 THE 3 ADDITIONAL ORDERS WERE WRONG THE BOX WAS MARKED F16-2623 BUT THE HOLDERS INSIDE THE BOX WERE FOR TUBING F16-2600.CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THE FIRST ORDER CAME FROOM A DIFFERENT WAREHOUSE THEN THE 3 LATER ORDERS SO IF YOU ORDERED FOR PIPE AND OPEN THE BOX AND THE INSERTS SAY TUBING THEY SENT THE WRONG ONES.
In one of the reviews they claim the sizing is incorrect-- that is in fact not true.
3/4 and 1" IPS refers to (iron Pipe size). When refering to the size of iron pipe it is the I.D. (inside dia.) of the pipe they measure, not the O.D. (outside dia.) Thus, the outside is 3/16" to 1/2" larger than the I.D. So...while I see it could be misleading to someone not knowing this, there sizing is correct. The same is true with the 1-1/4 to 1-1/2. The OD will likely be more like 1-3/4 to 1-7/8.
As the other reviewers say, these are high quality heavy duty rod holders. 4 stars because the sizing is not only confusing but it is incorrect. I ordered two sizes: 1) ‘3/4” to 1” IPS pipe’; and, 2) ‘1 ¼” to 1 ½” IPS pipe.’
With each of the above products, the clamp component comes with two inserts. This is how each could snuggly fit three different sizes of pipe. You could use the thicker insert to make it fit a small pipe, the thinner insert for a little bit larger pipe, or no insert to fit the third and largest size of its range. For the ‘3/4” to 1” IPS’ product size, the two different size inserts are stamped ‘3/4”’ and ‘1”’, respectively. This is where Cabelas gets its sizing from and this is why it is wrong on Cabelas.com. The insert stamped ¾ measures 1” and the insert stamped 1” measures 1 ¼”.
I didn’t open the larger ‘1 ¼” to 1 ½” IPS pipe’ version, but by eyeballing it, I suspect it has a similar problem. One look at it is enough to see it is too big for the 1 ¼” pipes on my boat.
The ‘3/4” to 1” IPS pipe’ fits pipe with outside diameter of 1” to maybe 1 3/8” (thick insert, thin insert, no insert). It is too big to mount on a pipe with ¾” outside diameter. Perfect fit on my 1” and 1 ¼” pipes.
looks great on my leaning post and very sturdy. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because the sizing was a little confusing. The first pair I ordered was the wrong size and I had to return them. Great product and great price.
