Sometimes the ability to see in the dark can mean the difference between life and death, and the X-50 is a tool that can make the difference. For law enforcement, security applications, search and rescue operations and surveillance, the X-50 represents the cutting edge of night-vision technology. Unlike conventional night-vision equipment, the X-50 is unaffected by bright lights, glare or shadows. It's rugged enough to stand up to a 6-ft. drop onto concrete and, though buoyant in water, is waterproof enough to withstand submersion to 9 ft. Sensitive enough to detect human activity more than 300-yards away, it's compact enough to slip into a coat pocket. Video output capability let's you record what you see on a separate camera in analog NTSC or PAL monochrome formats. Fully automatic brightness and contrast adjusts to light conditions. Other features include an on-screen viewfinder battery-level indicator, covert eyecup, 1/4-20 tripod mount, tactile battery loading for nighttime stealth and a long eye-relief viewfinder for use with glasses, face shields or masks. Neck strap, lens cover and lens cloth included. Powered by two AA batteries (included).

I have tried a few other night vision products and had nothing but problems. Thermal was definitely the way to go. I wish the image was a bit clearer but for my purposes, not bad. Seems like the battery doesn't last as long as they say.
