This aluminum Wading Staff folds into a small belt pouch, yet the shock-corded sections lock together quickly when needed. Includes a compass to help keep your bearings.
This was a great purchase for me since I'm not getting any younger. It proved to be helpful for keeping my balance when tippy toeing around rocky creek bottoms in pursuit of trout. I don't know how much weight it can take on it, but I don't need to put a lot on it. It is also helpful to use out of the water when stepping over rocks where rattlesnakes might be resting. I'd rather have the staff startle them than my foot.
The wading staff is reasonably priced and works very well. It provides needed stability and comes together quickly. Recently in Colorado, it allowed me to get to places to fish that I would not have attempted without it. The pouch could have been a different color than royal blue (olive, black, etc), but the staff is a great product!
I have taken up fly-fishing in the past year but have trouble with wading in rivers. I have Meniere's disease and the water movement and extreme balancing effort makes it tough for me. Dizziness often occurs and my maintaining any balance is difficult. This staff helps me get around the water much easier. There are times when I would've fallen if I hadn't been using it.
The only problem I have had is that it tends to fall out of the pouch and snaps itself together when I am out of the water. Not an issue except that I shut it on the truck door one day when this happened and put a small dent in it.
