I have used Maxima mono exclusively on my salmon rods for 22 seasons now. Haven't had a reason to change yet! Very good workability for knot tying and the abrasion resistance where it goes through countless downrigger releases is great.

Too thick.

The 5.5 kilo Maxima Chameleon was thicker than that printed on the label. The line measured at 0.39mm diameter but the label said 0.32mm. I had bought the line for it's thiness but it is now of no use to me. This is not the fault of Cabelas.
Cabelas Salt Striker 15lb. is 0.33mm.
Cabelas Pro 12lb. is 0.33mm.
Breakaway, once sold by Cabelas, 14lb is 0.30mm.
Maxima IGFA 6kg line is 0.31mm.
I really wanted the Maxima IGFA line but can not get it here.

I use this line for sturgeon, striper, and offshore. I just got tired of the smaller spools, seem to waste a lot. Its a good tough line, not limp.

This line is a great product, it's abrasion resistance and low visabilty are what is needed fishing for Steelhead.
