Cabela's 3mm Neoprene Wading Socks with Built-In Gaiters
Neoprene socks are comfortable, stretchable and prolong the life of your waders. We suggest wearing a lightweight liner sock next to the skin to wick away moisture. Added cushioning and warmth for colder conditions, plus built-in gaiter tops that roll down over your wading boots
to seal out debris. Two-sided taping. Seamless footbeds. Imported.
Sizes:S(7-8), M(9-10), L(11-13).
I have been purchasing from Cabela's for years and have always been impressed with the quality of their stuff. So when I bought these I was expecting more of the same. I came away a little less than impressed. Yes they kept my feet warm when wet wading, but they do collect water and the gaiter pulled off one of the socks probably after 15-20 uses. My wife has a pair and has had no problem up till now, so far so good. I would agree with other who wish they were either a little more water tight or had some type of drain holes. As for the tear, I expected better quality from Cabela's. I am, however purchasing another pair based on price and the fact that I only wet wade about 3-4 times a year so they should last me another 4-5 years based on the longevity of my first pair.
Coupled with neoprene felt bottomed boots, this combo is perfect for dredging for gold in cold water and saves your feet from the sharp rocks. My gaiter came off on the second use and have yet to see if Cabela's will replace them!.
These wading socks are great for wet wading on warm days or when you fish, but don't plan on hiking too much. I'm happy with the fit and overall performance.
If Cabela's added some kind of breathing hole for water to escape (and not let sand in) it would make these an outstanding product. As another reviewer stated, these socks will hold water. No big deal if you aren't hiking or covering a lot of water along a stream/river. If you plan to do a lot of walking, the amount of water in your sock can get a little annoying. Of course, you can empty the socks out and your problem is solved.
That said, seems to be a quality product. I might try poking a hole myself...
