I ordered two of these hats on sale after my old Gore-tex hat got worn out. I am glad I got two.
First, the hat is very warm and comfortable. The brown pile you see in the picture runs around the inside seam of the hat, but not into the crown of the hat. Pulling down the pile around your ears is as fuzzy as soft fleece. The brim is curved, but not "hard curved" so that it cuts into your forehead or temples. There is plenty of velcro in the strap to hold up the earflaps, or secure them under your chin. I also like to pull the earflaps halfway down and secure the velcro in the back; it keeps the tops of your ears warm without obstructing your hearing.
I only gave four stars because of the fit. I wear a 7 1/8 hat and am relatively short, but the hat in a Large is just a tiny bit snug. I ended up cutting the elastic band that fits in the back of this hat, and it is still a tiny bit snug; this can cause "hat head" headache after a few hours, but not so badly that I won't wear it.
I am going to keep wearing this hat because it is well-designed, relatively comfortable, and the gore-tex is a huge plus when the woods are dripping from melting frost or dew.

Wow! What a hat.

I just received my hat, and because we are having a heatwave at the moment I stood in the shower to test the waterproofing of the hat! It is great: completely waterproof, very comfortable and a perfect fit. No more cold wet head for me this winter.

Wow! I am so glad I purchased this hat ! I bought this for fishing in the fall/winter. The long bill is great for the sunny days, or attaching a cap light when it's dark. It is nice and warm, the thinsulate is soft, I also like the fact that it covers part of the back of your neck, like most other people i ordered a size larger, and it fits me PERFECT !

Bought two on sale wish I had bought more. Soft, comfortable, warm, and dry even in the pouring rain. Best outdoor hat I ever had, hunting, sledding, etc.
