Evaluation:Cabela's Dry-Plus® Ultra Wading Jacket
Date:
The size and the fit are 2 inescapable differences. I ordered a 2XL and the fit was similar to a large. I could barely squeeze into it and did not do up the jacket, however I wanted to evaluate the same.
Within 15 to 20 minutes, I was drenched in perspiration. The inside lining was as wet as I.
As for a rain jacket, It performed very well. In a good rainstorm, those parts of me covered by the jacket were dry and hence a 2* rating.
If one were to purchase this jacket, order a jacket 2 sizes larger than you wear. You will not be disappointed for the rain proof of this jacket.

Still undecided
Date:
I was looking for a lightweight rain jacket that was 100% waterproof, flexible and with lots of pockets. One that I can use in the upper mid-west rain storms, wilderness Boundary Waters on the MN candien border, and one that was light weight for tropical jungle of SE Asia during monsoon or late monsoon. So far this one is pretty good although I have yet to really test it.
I would have liked side waist pockets on it but I do like the chest pockets and flap pockets. What I do NOT like about this jacket is the zipper front. very small zipper which makes it very difficult to find the start to zip up and zip up at times.
I will get back with more after my trip to the BWCA, especially if we run int o lots of rain.

Dry Plus wading jacket
Date:
I purchased this jacket for a fly fishing trip on the Conejos River in Southern Colorado in mid July. This area can have daily afternoon rains and I did not want to get wet when the fishing was good. This jacket performed very well. It kept me dry and it was very breathable and comfortable through a good range of temperatures (50 to 80 F). The length of the jacket was just right and it has the right amount of room in the shoulders for casting. The storage areas were convienient and I could carry enough "stuff" for a day of fishing. I do agree with some of the other reviews concerning the hook and loop fabric on the sleeve getting caught on other areas of the jacket. This is easily fixable by purchasing a small amount of extra hook and loop fabric at the hobby store and covering the exposed loops with a custom cut strip.
This is a very good wading jacket for the money.
