Nice Design
Date:
I like the Jacket; it’s constructed and designed pretty well. I purchased a large/ tall and I like the way it fits and allows movement. Follow the size charts and you should be fine even with base layers and a hoodie. Yes, you are going to have to wear layers in the winter. I went steelhead fishing this morning and it was 40 degrees out. This is more of a shell, rather than a jacket so you won’t be keeping warm without several layers. This is not a winter time jacket. It is waterproof. I fished for 3 hours in heavy rain fall and dry as a bone. Sealing at the entry points- neck, cuffs and waist worked perfectly. The hood has an extended flap that covered the bill of my ball cap and has plenty of room with a hat and hoodie and is adjustable. I asked if the jacket was windproof before I bought it, Cabela’s claim their Dry- Plus material is windproof, I think it more like wind resistant but I was in some serious weather this morning. I suspect I’ll have to continue to treat the exterior with waterproofing in the future
Sealing at the entry points- neck, cuffs and waist worked perfectly. The hood has an extended flap that covered the bill of my ball cap and has plenty of room with a hat and hoodie and is adjustable. The one thing I didn’t like was the fleece lined pockets are located behind the “cargo pockets” and cannot be closed. You have to really bend and scrunch your arm and elbows to get your hands in. It’s slightly awkward, but I think they placed the pockets there to keep the warm spots high in deeper wading. The hand warmers work great by the way.
The main zipper is heavy duty, but I can see problems with the waterproof zippers. I think they will blow out if you start tugging or zipping when the pockets are not perfectly flat, or in a straight line when zipping. If you buy one of these jackets, you’ll understand what I’m trying to describe.
I do like the jacket, perfect for spring weather. I’ll see how it last until then and may update in the future. I will buy another, if the zippers hold up this year.
