When the birds are flushing and the shooting action is fast and furious, why waste time fumbling for shells? This innovative vest sports six Rapidloader shell loops that keep 24 shells right at your fingertips. Just pull one shell out and the next drops into place. The tubes hold 24 rounds of 2-3/4", 12-ga. shells and include inserts for use with 20-ga. shells. Two cargo pockets with two, large zip-close pockets behind them and a spacious, lined front-loading game bag give you plenty of space for hauling all the gear you need. Constructed of tough, 100% cotton canvas. Imported.
Sizes: S-3XL.
Color: Blaze/Tan.
I bought this vest for Rabbit and Upland Bird hunting. I have owned it for 4 years now and it has been a pretty decent fest though it does have its pro's and con's.
Pro's Plenty of storage and room. I mean this vest can hold more gear than you want to carry.
Speed Loaders are very convienient. They make it nice for getting that quick 3rd shot ( for O/U shooters# or 4th shot #for Autoloaders)
Vest fits well and is easy to load game into.
Con's Durrability is somewhat questionable. I have owned the vest for 4 years and it is pretty well shreaded at this point. One of the pockets has been completely torn out and many of the speed loaders have holes in them, one is big enough for the shells to fall out. With that said I hunt some extremely thick and nasty country and I hunt a lot. Green briar, multifloral rose bushes, etc. The vest is still very usuable but this is why I only gave it 4 stars.
When you have a load of game in the back, it has a tendancy to make the front of the vest ride up on you. You have to pull it back down a lot as you are walking.
Shells will sometimes fall out of the top of the speedloaders when you bend down to pick something up.
Overall for as hard as I hunt this has been a really nice vest. Would have liked it to have been a bit more durable, but my upland gear gets abused season after season. If you arent in the brush as much as I am, then this vest will prolly last you a lifetime.
Very good vest and excellent idea! Love the quick access of just under one box of ammo (24 rds). Never had a problem getting 12 ga shells out of the vest (never tworn with multiple seasons of use); but do agree that the plastic 'loops' could be attached to the vest a little better...but no issue getting them out; even with gloves on. Has a good number of pockets and the 'bird bag' part holds 3+ pheasants comfortably. I would recommend this if you need a good upland vest with the ability to carry a box of 12 or 20 ga #has loops for both#...if so then this is it!
Great idea. I bought the rapidlaoder and used it for one season. Really liked it but with gloves on I ended up grabbing not just the shell and when I pulled it tore the entire plastic shell holder out of the vest rendering the rapid loader useless.
I sent it back and they gave me a full in store credit. I will try another one of Cabela's vests.
Two of my friends have this vest as well and they did not have the same problem and love it.
This vest is great, easy to load the shells, very quick to pull out and load in a flash. I used a friends back in 09. He wears a XXL and it was big but the ease of reloading was great. I even fed a shell in when i emptied and killed the bird i was aiming at. Semi Auto, poped in the shell, chambered and fired, with the help of one other that wasdoing the same with his gun and down came the pheasant, at 10 yrds. Ordering me a large Now. Well worth the money. (Hunting at the Pheasants Nest west of Tulare S.D.)
