I purchased this vest two years ago prior to the browning and pheasants forever involvement and I have truly enjoyed it. I have worn it for quail, pheasant, and grouse for two seasons and as a daily dog training vest for a year and it has remained comfortable and functional. I have had no problems with quality or durability. In terms of size the M/L is certainly large enough. I am 5'11" 180 lbs and if I were any thinner there would be no way this vest could be made small enough. For a strap vest it is a little on the heavy side but the suspension system more than makes up for it. Hunting a ways from the truck it allows me to carry all of my gear and water for me and the dog and provides nice back support. I would definitely recommend it.
I just received my Browning Pheasants Forever Bird -n- Lite Strap vest today. When I picked up the shipping bag without even seeing the vest I thought, hmmm, maybe Cabelas messed up my order or I messed the order up because the bag seemed heavy for a strap vest. I took it out of the bag, it was what I ordered, and nothing else was in the bag. Looking it over the fabric seems thin, which I guess accounts for the advertised “Lite” part (although it is the heaviest strap vest I’ve ever worn). The vest comes in 2 sizes. M/L and XL/2XL. I ordered the M/XL per the size guide and it seemed to fit so-so for me at 6ft 1 and 195lbs, but the shoulder straps didn’t fit well no matter how I adjusted them. It does have a lot of nice features. 2 water bottle storage areas, a backpack area, and I really like the front loading feature. Front loading was the main reason I ordered it in the first place. But ultimately I sent it back for a refund because the fabric seems like it’ll be quick to wear out and it just didn’t fit to my liking. So I’ll continue using my current strap vest which is lighter, has water bottle holders, and a pack area. It only lacks the front loading capability. I also use the Cableas bird belt and it has never let me down. Regarding my recommending this item; Everybody has an opinion. I have several buddies that love this strap vest. It just was not for me. If you are considering this item,my recommendation of yes means "try it on in a store to see if you like it before purchasing. If you like the fit and weight, all the features are like icing on a cake."
