Material appears to hold up well...Internal elastic at bottom and in middle provides good snug fit......unfortunately, poorly designed fastening mechanism negates any and all positive aspects it may have.....Under boot laces, rear zipper, and rear top laces are very cumbersome to tie, especially when wearing heavy clothing or one-piece hunting/snow suits.....The solution is more elastic and velcro.....

Stick with the Ultimate Gaiter. I tried to save a few bucks this round and went with this option. The string tie won't hold anything like the velcro strap on the Ultimate. After just a few trips in the field one zipper pull broke and I can't keep them up. Once the snow is over your knee they slide down and even worse will come off. The zipper slides up as you walk in deep snow and then it just comes off. I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone.

I really need gaiters in our wet, snowy, muddy environment here in SE Alaska. I usually use Outdoor Research Crocodile Gaiters but those are too noisy for hunting. I though that these gaiters-- at a similar price-- would have the same sturdy features. not so. the zipper on these gaiters is of very poor quality. Already, after 3 uses, the zipper stitch has started to give away. Also, the strings that loop under the boot are very weak.
the material is very good and they are waterproof. i have waded across streams with them and gore-tex boots and have stayed dry.
the problem is the weak construction, weak zipper, and weak stitches.

I bought these for a Colorado archery elk trip. They worked real well. The string that ties under your boot came off and was lost but the gaiters still held in place real well. They were better than I anticipated.
