I would prefer mesh covered openings to pevent larger rocks from getting caught in webbing on the top and side of the foot. the pull ties don't tighten at all. The ankles started rubbing constantly after a couple of miles. Overall they held up on a 12 mile roundtrip o socks) crossing creeks and carrying a pack with minor raw spots on my feet.

Comfort & Style A Good Combination

This sandal is by far the most comfortable sandal, or shoe for that matter, that I have had on my foot in a long time. Also the ease of putting it on and off is a plus. And my wife likes the fact that they hide my "ugly" toes.

Great cross between a sandal and an athletic shoe. Good protection for your feet but lots of air, good support and traction. I went back and bought a second pair as I had been looking for something like these for a while and was afraid I wouldn't find them again. Not bad looking either, my wife will let me wear them in public!
