Keen Targhee II on the AT
Date:
I wore the boots for 467 miles on the Appalachian Trail from March to May. They took care of my feet and ankles with good support. I did wear a silk sock liner and a pair of merino wool socks. They were slow to dry out each night but the dampness did not affect my feet. The complaint about tread separating from the side of the boot is true. I had to re glue and or trim off the narrow pieces every 200 miles. I did appreciate good traction in rain and snow. Majority of the boots on the trail were Keens.

Targhee II Hikers... A Keen Selection
Date:
I previously owned a pair of Newport H2 sandals that held up well over the years and decided to try their hiking boots. So glad I did!!! I have a high arch/instep with a wide forefoot and I appreciate a well-defined heel pocket in a hiking boot. These Keen Targhee II Hikers have that precise profile! I really like the nylon strap that connects the heel to the lacing system. My feet are comfortable, warm and dry and the boots are comfortable enough to work out in right out of the box! I've not taken them out on the trail yet, but so far I like everything about them.

Comfortable, capable, but didn't hold up
Date:
I had the original Targhee hikers and loved them at first. They look like the same as these. They have tremendous grip, are comfortable, were waterproof and were great for hiking or everyday use. After a couple years though they no longer were waterproof, the bottom of the soles began falling apart, and the cloth lace eyelets began breaking. I gave them 3 stars because they lasted a while, but they weren't the bulletproof hikers I was looking for.
