Bought these to replace leaky Vasque Sundowners. Now 2 1/2 months and 200 miles later, they are living up to advertisements. Comfortable out of the box; no break-in time needed. Now to see how long they will last. I particularly like how my feet seem at a comfortable temperature no matter the temperature outside. I'm a believer.
I purchased the Cabels's Light Hiker by Meindl on a Monday and on Tuesday morning I hiked one of New Hampshires 48 four thousand foot mountains and did two more on Thursday totaling 16 miles right out of the box.
Have only worn these a few days but they are excellent so far. Nice and wide for my feet unlike many other brands. Very good sole support -- I don't feel the rocks. No break in was needed. Durability is unknown.
This light hiker has become my everyday shoe for work and around the house as well as hiking. Simple, they're comfortable. I believe it's the cork in the soles that make for the comfort, but this is just a guess. What's not a guess is that they are just nice to wear. I have put a lot of miles on my pair, including outdoor use and they have held up nicely. Someday when they wear out I will look for another pair of Meindls.
