26 years and still going like the Everready bunny
Date:
Mine were bought a long time ago, had Vibram Soles and less stitching, and they lasted longer than any other boots I've ever heard of. Still don't leak after 26 years, and many thousands of miles of hiking. They're not supposed to wear out, but now that the bottoms won't grip the ground anymore, their lifetime warranty is unsupported for that. I bought them in 1986. I used beeswax Sno-Seal from Cabela's on them all this time, and the only time the leather cracked some was when they got saturated with snowmelt and then froze in the Adirondaks at 40 below during a winter hike. Had I been more diligent with the Sno-Seal that wouldn't have happened. Also I seam sealed the seams with Weldwood contact cement worked into the threads with a curved monoject syringe that used to be available for veterinary use squirting medicine into horses mouths. Never have I seen any other shoe like these, they refuse to fall apart even if I hike with a very heavy pack over Pennsylvania rocks, in the rain. I wear an extra size larger and use two pairs of heavy socks, so can't speak about the comfort level the way most folks wear 'em. I loved them and found them very comfortable considering they are made for supporting a heavy pack without stone bruising. They aren't flexible like sneaker type hiking shoes, slightly less stiff torsionally than boots with a full plastic frame inside, they do twist a little bit in your hands if you try to twist them, or if you ski in them then they twist too much. Good for long distances with a 60 pound pack over rocky terrain like the A.T. offers. Very waterproof.

Nice Boots....bad laces
Date:
I've had these boots for approx. 5 months now. Overall...I love the boots. They took awhile to break in, but they are very comfortable now. I got 12 years out of my last pair, so I'm hoping to get the same wear out of these. My only complaint is the laces. The laces on both boots are about to break due to the design of the eyelets. My 12 year old pair of Cabelas hikers still has the original laces....these have not lasted and will need to be replaced asap.

Really nice boots
Date:
I got them for Christmas this past year and really like them. Sorta tough to break in, but I haven't done any long hikes in them yet. Basically around town stuff. I coated them in mink oil a couple times now they are really comfly. They are well constructed and should last a long time. The leather is a great quality, goretex, and vibram soles = great features for a boot. Good purchase!

Look good.......rough on feet
Date:
I received these boots as a Christmas present from my wife. I have to say when I opened them I was very pleased with their appearance and quality of construction. I wore them around the house and to work the next few days and the more I wore them the more they hurt my feet. I assumed they just needed a longer break-in period due to the rugged construction of the boot. I was wrong. I have had them now about three months and they still hurt my feet when I wear them. I have quit wearing them and are wearing my tried and true Cabelas Rimrock hikers. If your looking at these boots, save yourself some money and buy the Rimrock hikers. They are cheaper and more comfortable.
