These hiking boots feature all the performance-driven features of high-end, backcountry hikers at an affordable price. Waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® membranes guarantee all-day dryness on short hikes and extended expeditions. Full-length, rock-blocking nylon footboards increase stability on uneven ground and prevent stone bruising. Proven lace-to-toe design delivers a feet-hugging, nonslip fit for maximum support. Suede uppers with padded collars and nylon panels provide long-hiking comfort, minimal break-in time and more air circulation. Grip-enhancing Vibram® outsoles for all-terrain traction. Thick, shock-absorbing EVA midsoles reduce foot fatigue. Padded, removable Cabela's polyurethane footbeds.

Excellent Early Season Elk Boot

I bought these boots after returning a pair of another brand of light hiker (blisters on the first hike). They were/are for use while summer scouting and early season Colorado archery elk hunting. My feet sweat a lot and I wanted a boot that was breathable, but, quality.In the summer, I wore them while hiking to break them in. While on the hunt, I wore them on the hot days. Over the span of a 9 day hunt, no blisters and dry feet. They have enough support that I suffered no soreness of foot or ankle. They are a great value.

ready-to-go hiking boots

I tried on several different boots but settled on the Big Sky Hikers. Felt most comfortable and were a lot lighter than I expected.
I decided to start wearing them a few hours a day to break them in. However, that wasn't neccesary. These boots are ready to hit the trails right out of the box.
Sale price is a no-brainer!

I do work as a Cable Technician and am very much exposed to all weather conditions. Especially in the last month, including this past freak Halloween snowstorm.
There was virtually no wear in time to the boot. They look good (guys at work have complimented me on them). They are relatively light in weight compared to the big bulky lineman boots.
Absolutely NO water got into the boot wearing them in the rain and snow. The Goretex is amazing. They dry quickly (2-3hrs). It's a Vibram sole, which in my opinion last the longest. The laces remain tied throughout the entire day of work, they loosen very little.
Hope these points are informative. I find these to be key elements when buying a work boot.
I Highly recommend this boot, wether hiking or for outdoor work.
