I liked the idea of a bit more toe room. They do have more room but not too much. I can wear heavier socks and after a long hike or a day hunting they're still comfortable. They breathe to keep my feet dry and the waterproofing works well. These are a bit higher than my previous low hikers and that\u2019s fine with me. I replaced the insoles with a good full length arch support insole. That was another reason that the additional toe room worked well.
Went for a four mile hike this AM in the Malabar Scrub Sanctuary (central florida) this morning with my son. These hikers did it all for me right out of the box. Crossed several shallow blackwater creeks, up and down rooted grades and sandy pine ridges. Back home I found two long cactus spines embedded in the leather toe area that saved my toes. Not a feather weight hiker but comfortable and seems well made...and darned good lookin I'd say. Life is good.
