I was given a pair of these for Christmas last year and have used them nonstop sense then. During the early cross county running season I used them for my running shoes. I have hiked some of the worst trails I have ever hiked in that time. One of the more strait forwarded but more recognizable was the Chilkoot Trail, the trail used by pioneers during the Yukon gold rush. I also used it for many other hikes both on defined trails and cross country. They are starting to show sighs of ware but that is mostly because I use them during welding class.
"Hiking" shoe is a misnomer. These are OK for hiking from the parking lot to the nearest scenic attraction. The support is inadequate for even moderately rough trails, and within two weeks of walking in the woods, the toes of my soles had separated from the boot. It may be just the shoe you need, but don't ask it to do more than it was designed for. On the plus side, they are very comfortable, especially when back home sitting on my deck.
I always expect quality from Cabela's including their own brands. So when I ordered the Laramie Low Hikers, I knew they would be just what I wanted. So I put them on and walked 5 miles to give them a good test. They were great! I had no discomfort and they were great on rugged terrain. I even ran some of the trails and they were solid. In fact, these are going to replace my running shoes that were also serving as my hiking shoes. These were truly a great purchase and I recomend them to any hiker. Thanks Cabela's!
