I have always purchased Cabelas MT050 and never had an issue. The Sitka gear has great camo designs BUT but is not waterproof. I hunt in Northern Minnesota and as long as the snow is cold you can brush it off, but if you sit and the snow melts you get soaked. This happened both with the Sitka Gloves and jacket and I purchased the best that Sitka had to offer. I have never had such back issues before - I am going to waterproof the garments myself as I cannot afford to have these type of issues again.
Well after looking at the sizing chart I am at the lower end of XL measurements on the fitting guide. I actually fits me perfect. Definitely go one size up.
I can not believe how light it is compared to my 4 in one parka.
I stood out on my deck in the wind this afternoon. it was blowing around 20 mph. Granted it is not cold yet but the wind stopping ability is very good. when I have my underarmor and climafleece on under this I can not believe I will have any problems with wind.
no bulk issues with drawing back a bow. This jacket stays close to the body for sure with its athletic fit.
I can notwait to get on stand in 30 days with this stuff.
i wore this jacket with under armour cold gear and a second layer from browning. the jacket performed well for my style of hunting which is still hunting/ tracking. ive been looking for something that was light weight/wind proof and finally found it. the down side(s) are: not waterproof and noisier than wool. i have worn wool pants with the jacket and found that icy snow makes noise bouncing off you and the jacket makes a little noise through brush compared to the wool.
Well, ordered the Stratus Jacket and the Kelvin Liner for hunting in Ontario, Canada. The price of this equipment is a little scary to say the least but based on the quality upon examining the product should last a LONG time. Deer season has not yet opened so I have not had the coats in the feild but no complaints so far. I will update the reveiws after use. A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE IS THESE ITEMS DO FIT SMALL AS INDICATED IN OTHER REVIEWS. I am a 44" chest size so sit in the upper range of large and lower of XL. I spoke with the Sitka reps and they confirmed my choice, I ordered the Kelvin in large and the Stratus in XL. Having tried both now I wish I had of purchased the Kelvin in XL as well to assist with a little more layering. BUY ONE SIZE UP! The only reason these products did not get a 5 star review is the high price and that I have not field tested them yet.
