Heat-amplifying ArmourLoft insulation and a fitted cut makes this high-performance vest perfect for layering. Unlike most high-loft layers, it’s wind- and water-resistant, and nonbulky for blocking heat-robbing winds and streamlining your layering system. Rugged, 100% polyester shell. Packs into its own pocket for space-saving transport and storage. Features angled baffles that prevent insulation migration and provide an aggressive profile. Full-zip front. Two zippered handwarmer pockets. Imported. Sizes: M-2XL.
Camo pattern:Realtree AP™.
I wanted a tight fitting vest to wear under my outerwear on cold days. For a poly shelled vest, it was surprisingly quiet and would definitely be quiet enough even as an outer layer. During deer season this year, we were down in the single digits or low teens most of the season, and the wind was brutal, but I still stayed warm. This replaced a down filled North Face vest that was very warm, but very very bulky, and very very loud.
Layering is great in theory, but nobody likes spending 20min getting dressed every morning to go hunting. I wear a UA compression cold gear baselayer, a Hanes knit thermal on top and a pair of sweat pants on bottom, then UA Ayton bibs, this vest, and a UA Ridge Reaper jacket and I'm warm clear down below zero. The biggest benefit is that I'm not so bulked up that I can't move. With the UA set up I have, I'm still able to move and I don't look like the michelin man!
For sizing, this vest was a little bigger than I expected from UA. I'm 5'10", 180lbs, and fairly broad shouldered, and in general I wear all Large in underarmour (like my Large Ridge Reaper jacket, and Large Ayton Fleece jacket, and large cold gear), but the large Armour-Loft vest was too big. I exchanged it for the medium and it fit perfectly, and rides very comfortably underneath my outer layer jacket. I'm a 5'10" with a 44" chest and 30" waist, for reference.
