My second pair of Rocky's. The old ones lasted at least a dozen years. The new pair is light and waterproof. I ordered the wide width and a half size larger than normal, after reading the reviews and was glad I did. they fit great. They seem tough as ever but the new pair is lighter and easier on your feet. A good buy.
I purchased these boots about one month ago, and went to our annual moose/elk/deer hunt in Northern Alberta. The temperature hovered between -15 to -25 Celcius, with 4-6 inches of snow.
I must say that these boots are quite comfortable out of the box, and kept my feet warm and dry for the "2" days that I wore them. I say 2 days for the following reason, which will explain my low rating.
On the third day, I noticed that the small rubber overlap at the front (right boot) came unglued about one inch. I chose not to wear them again believing the entire overlap would become unglued, thereby flopping down.
I probably got a "lemon" boot made on a Friday, and will promptly return them for an exchange.
Having said that, this is a good boot, and I would recommend them. I believe my experience is simply a manufacturer defect.
I was a little nervous about taking these boots right out of the box for the deer hunt this year because we were planning on backpacking up some rugged terrain. However, they were comfortable from beginning to end of both 5 hour hikes up and down the mountain.
In fact, I was the only one who didn't get blisters hiking up and down the 45 degree slope. The others were using moleskin only hours into the hike. Two were wearing Cabela's Guide Series boots (which are $50 more, and they love them), and one was wearing light hiking shoes. The light hiking shoes were only a few weeks old and got torn up by the rough terrain.
These were warm and light with great stability. They have held up fine over the first rugged hike. Time will tell if they will hold up for the long haul, but my guess is that they will do just fine. Great boots for the price!
