Bought these boots for work because I was tired of numb toes by noon. First day I wore them it was in the low 20's and I was in and around a small creek all day. Feet stayed completely dry, and warm. I was surprised by how comfortable they were right out of the box and the traction was great in slick situations, much better grip than any other hunting boots I've owned before. Overall couldn't be happier with my purchase!
First of all these are not a Pac Boot with only 1,200 gram thinsulate. Yet they are slightly too heavy for a walking boot.
Pros: Feet stayed bone dry walking in creeks up to 8-10" deep, deep snow, wetlands, and wet grass fields. (With 2-3 coats of Cabelas Gortex waterproof boot spray). Seemed to be pretty scent free because never had a deer scent my tracks while bow hunting. Held up great for the 4 months I have had them
Cons: Too heavy for lengthy walking or stalking (4.8lbs per pair). Feet got cold within 30minutes of being on stand in temperatures from 5-20 degrees F (with heavy-weight Cabelas wool sock) (1 hour with boot blankets). Hard to get laces tight enough to support ankles. Hard sole (not very flexible) could use a sole insert for added comfort.
Overall OK for the price. Would recommend this boot for mid-season bow hunting or colder spring hunts. (NOT AS A TRUE COLD WEATHER PAC BOOT)
First off, the -135 degree rating is a joke! It does not even get that cold anywhere on earth. That aside, these boots would not even come close to keeping your feet warm if you were some where that cold. I have been ice fishing with these boots several times (in 20 degree weather in Northern Indiana) and have found that these boots do not keep my feet toasty warm, however my feet have never been uncomfortably cold either. The warmth level usually lies somewhere in between perfect comfort and borderline discomfort. I feel that overall quality is somewhat cheap and the comfort level isn't the best, but for the price they are a good deal. Hopefully they will keep me warm in my tree stand next fall...
I purchased these boots on sale and have put them through (2) full hunting seasons. The boots fit good but do not seem to wear in or get any more flexible. Feet are a little sore after a day in the field. Waterproof ability is good for these boots as I have never got wet feet using them trudging through deeper snow & marshy low lands. These boots are intended for walking/ hiking and not sitting IMO. I was disappointed in how quick my feet got cold when sitting in treestands in fairly cold weather while wearing one pair of preimum warm socks. Boots are nice for moving but if your going to be sitting I would look at a different product.
