We worked with Meindl to design the Alaska Hunter to handle the absolute toughest mountainous conditions. Maximum support is needed in steep, rocky terrain, so they’re built with a super-stiff insole for stability and extreme torsional rigidity. A DIGAfix® lacing system creates a perfect, pressure- free fit around the instep and heel to eliminate blister-causing slippage. And the Vibram® multi- grip outsole offers non-slip traction on rock walls, scree fields and most any ground you’re likely to encounter. A rubber rand completely encircles the upper for maximum abrasion protection. Waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® booties combine with a moisture-wicking lining to keep feet dry in any condition. And a padded collar and fully gusseted tongue eliminate pinching and binding. An air active footbed guards against ankle- and knee-jarring shocks. The 10" Hunter has 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation for enhanced cold-weather performance. These are the ultimate Alpine boots. Made in Germany. Height: 10". Average weight: 4.2 lbs./pair. Men’s sizes: 8-13 D and EE widths. Half sizes to 12.
A few years age I purchased this boot in the "hiker" ... And used it in Nevada Elk hunting and in Alaska Caribou hunting and have been well pleased with it...So I decided to purchase the insulated version with the higher top to wear on a winter type Elk hunt ..The boot gives good ankle support and foot support while side hilling in rough rocky terrian. The rubber rand also protects from sharp rocks... I have wide feet and the wide model is almost not wide enough so I went up a half size ... Normally wear an 11W, I moved to 111/2 W and it was perfect.
I really like these boots, easy to break in. I would say they were the best boots ever! This is my third pair of meindl's, because I went on an Kodiak deer hunt and the seam ripped. I called Cabela\u2019s and they replaced them at no cost. I then started to wear them to work and a part of the boot inside started to rip and again they replaced them no question. I am now on my third pair and overall these are great boots I walk several miles every day, and so far no issues and no major complaints
This is the second pair of Mendels that I have purchased from Cabela's. The first was a succeeeful Big Horn in Alberta and this pair is going to BC for a Stone Sheep. They are the only boot that I use for sheep hunting. I don't think that you can beat them unless you have use a special boot because of water.
