I bought this rain jacket because I needed hunting clothing that would allow me to stay out all day in rainy weather. This is not the jacket for that. This past deer season the Jacket leaked and I became wet underneath on the right sleeve. It is not a good barrier between you and wet weather. Also, the hood flops down over your eyes when you walk and I constantly had to stop and re-adjust it to be able to see. I have other gore tex clothing that keeps me dry and blocks wind. I can feel the coldness of the rain through this jacket.
I tested this jacket in cold, heavy rain and it performed to my expectations. It stayed dry and kept the wind out with the proper layers. This worked great as an outer shell over a baselayer and fleece mid layer. It has a quiet outside material but can have a stiff feel to the fabric when it gets in colder climate. The only thing I did not like was it is not so quiet when walking against sapplings and small brush which is why it got 4 stars instead of 5. I would stick to fields/open woods to stalk with this gear. It is hard to ask rain gear to be as quiet/soft as wool or fleece. Overall, you will not be disappointed with this purchase. .
