The stocking feet on these things must be a size 15; much too big. The gaiters are so tight they barely fit over the stockings (forget about a boot) and they made it a real fight to get the waders on over my ankles.
Once I removed the gaiters with a pair of scissors they worked ok, except for the extra stocking material around my feet.
I can't recommend anything that needs to be surgically altered.
I second the review which said that these are for skinny legs only. My legs are not large but these barely fit over my ankles. They are difficult ot get on and off. I chose these boots because they had gravel guards but the gravel guards are so tight they will not fit over my wading shoes rendering the guards useless. The boots are very light weight and so far I have used them for several months with no leaks.
I bought these hippers with the intention of using them for warm weather, small stream fishing in Ontario. I'm sure if I ever got to use them, my review would improve and I would have enjoyed this product thoroughly. The build quality, design, and materials seemed top quality and the pack down cary bag was nice feature. The foot fit sizing was as indicated and was comfortable, however the leg size was not. I am not a large guy, but do have large calves from weight lifting. These waders were so tight around my calves, over time I sure I could have split the seams.
There was plenty of room in the upper leg portion of the wader and it makes me wonder why such a taper was used in this design. Needless to say, I had to return them without using them. If you have calves like mine (18" dia.), avoid spending your money on these. I would say even if you had 16" calves at the widest point, these waders would be uncomfortable. Sorry for the bad review, but I needed to warn any guys out there with big calves to steer clear. On the othe hand, for you guys with thin legs, this would likely be a great product!
I used these waders for the first time a week ago. My son and Iwere fishing the East for of the Black River in Arizona. The part of the river we we fished is very rugged and has a lot of brush and trees on the banks of the river. We went up river about 4 miles. We were in and out of the river all day long. These waders were great, had no problems with them tearing or ripping despite fighting the heavy brush all day long. They are much cooler than my chest waders which is nice on that long of a hike. I really was very confortable all day long.
