I have been wearing these socks for a couple of years now, and I REALLY, REALLY like them. The only problem I have is that they always get a hole right by my big toe right at the top, and no, my toenails are not long or sharp. But they have always honored the life time guarantee, so I just keep going through them, and buy another pair every so often. Not sure if others have this problem, but thought I would throw it out there. In spite of this, these are always the socks I'm looking for in the "pile".
Gotta love a sock that comes with a lifetime warranty.
I will add to the critiques that point out that these socks DO fit tight - I wear a size 7, bought the large, and they fit just right on my foot. The calf is tight however. I generally fold these down to ankle-height, so that works ok for me. As a boot sock they'd be a bit snug for my muscly calves.
Also, as far as fraying, the stitching for the writing is frayed right out of the package, it's the way they're made, the threads are not held down with any cloth covering as you would see with this type of embroidering on a shirt, for example.
I always wash new clothing to remove any sizing or other chemicals that were used in the packaging process. It's usual to wash merino wool in cold water and air dry to prevent shrinking and early wear-and-tear damage. I expect that following these procedures will help these socks last a very long time.
I'll update this review if I encounter any other problems. I dinged one star for the frayed embroidery (could have covered the threads for this high price) and also for being tight. Otherwise, they appear to be very nice midweight socks.
How can you go wrong with a lifetime guarantee? i wear these socks for work, which includes outdoors in the northeast, and they keep my feet warm, yet they're not bulky. I also wear them for everyday casual use and they're great. No sign of wear after repeated use and washing, and I'm hard on socks. Most socks I've worn for work develop holes in the toes after a short time, but not these socks.....and if they do, I'm covered by Cabela's lifetime guarantee.
