Removable Guide Pack Gets In The Way

I have the predecessor to this model, which also has the removable guide pack. Fine waders, no problems except the guide pack. If you're fighting big fish, in my case king salmon on a 9-weight, the guide pack interferes with normal operation of your reel. When landing a big fish, you'll typically seat the rod butt at your waist for extra leverage, and hold the handle in your right hand (I'm right handed). When you do this, and try to operate the reel with your left hand, the "guide pack" interferes. You can't operate the reel without moving the rod from its best position. Best advice: remove the guide pack BEFORE you get into this situation.
