So I bought these shorts as possible light weight hiking shorts. I should have paid attention closer to the details. These shorts feel like they're made of a mid/heavy weight fleece. I don't think I'd ever dream of taking these hiking, imagining the weight of them heavy with sweat or whatever you may encounter makes me dread it. These are definitely more for lounging around a campsite or at home in the back yard. That being said they are comfy. Now my only complaint is the fit. It's not even the fit of the shorts that's the problem. The shorts themselves fit great, its the built in belt that's just terrible. It feels like someone slapped the wrong sized belt on the right sized short. Its not exactly a deal breaker for me as I'm mostly going to just lounge around the house in these and its not worth the trouble to ship it back. If anything I may just get some nylon webbing and redo the belt myself. Anyway, in review:

I looked for a pair of shorts I could wear after a long day of fishing (to dry out in back at base), and also for quadding. I found I like them even more for quadding, since they're soft and extremely breathable!

These shorts are well made and comfortable. I went with a past review saying the sizing is off, and to buy 2 sizes larger. I bought XL for a 34" waist...big mistake, these are dead on for size...if the belt isn't clipped they will be down around my ankles...not a problem with the shorts though.

Cabela's has reissued their Performance Guidewear, however the critical issues were not corrected from previous line of the Guidewear Performance shorts & pants.
They run about 2 sizes smaller than size on tag, the belts are still too short & snaps are of poor quality, the snaps snap so softly they do not stay snapped.
Purchase these garments at least 1 size larger than you wear, & if you need a 3XL, you may want to try garments different than the Cabela's Guidewear Performance shorts & pants.
