Outdoor Research Seattle Sombrero™ Hat

Seattle residents are experts at dealing with rain, so it makes sense that this rainy-day classic should bear the name most noted for wet, soggy weather. The Seattle Sombrero has been tested in some of the heartiest downpours in the world. The Three-layer 70-denier Taslan® GORE-TEX® shell offers 100% waterproof, breathable protection, while the brushed lining manages perspiration. The specially shaped brim directs water away from your head when the skies open up, and provides shady relief from the sun when it finally comes out again. Hook-and-loop tabs on brim and dome allow for sides of brim to be flipped up. Foam-stiffened brim floats if your hat goes overboard! Internal cinch-band adjustment. A handy, removable adjustable chin strap keeps it in place when wind accompanies the rain. Imported.

The hat that makes me want it to rain.

best hat to own for wet climates or use where you may get that unexpected shower in moderate to cool climates.
The hat and goretex combination is too hot for 80 degree sunny days but take a baseball cap for that and pack this hat for when those cool evenings kick in or when its sunny and 65 degrees or when its going to rain.
Which is 3/4 of the year in the northeast and pacific northwest.
This hat makes me happy to go out in the rain and looks great also.

Seattle Sombrero hat

When I walk the dog, I cannot carry an umbrella or hang on to a hat in the wind. I've now worn this hat in fairly heavy rain and found it fully waterproof, very comfortable, and well affixed. It stayed on. I am too old to look good in a hat or much of anything else, but I imagine it would be stunning on a young person.
