poor quality
Date:
Cabelas has always out done theirselves, but they slipped with this one. The hat brim is to soft and floppy, will not hold its shape. its needs to be more rigid. The not so old style had more of a canvas stiffness, the one I had was great, just wore out.

Not enough gore tex
Date:
This could be the ultimate hunting hat. I loved it, but with the first real rain, my head got soaked within 20 minutes because the gore tex covers only the skull cap portion of the hat. The brim quickly absorbed water and made my head wet. If the gore tex extended through the brim, this hat would keep water from running down your neck. Having tried all types of hunting hats, the Jones Cap is the ultimate design for a hunting hat - warm, classic, traditional head protection. Adding gore tex is great! However, this one needs to be revised.

two layered Jones Cap
Date:
The hat was just to bulky and heavy to wear .So I returned it for refund . I wanted a water proof hat but this one just had to many layers with the dual useage camo and orange.
Thanks

A good hat, but. . . .
Date:
I spent this last hunting season getting soaking wet and cold. My jacket hood would have kept my head dry but it made it impossible to hear anything but the rufflling under the hood. I bought the Jones hat to stay dry without sacrificing hearing. With the 3/4 head band flap up it works great but feels like it might fall off. With the 3/4 head band flap down it stays on really well but covers up my ears and effects my hearing, however it is less noisy than my jacket hood. No problems with the Gortex and the ballcap type insert in the front of the brim keeps it from flopping around in front of my face.
