Great Wool Product.
Date:
This Outfiter Wool product line by Cabelas is the best that you can own. I have owned the complete line for 7 years now and have put it to the test. In 2006 I hunted in Montana for mule deer from the Rockies to Coulies. Hard stalk hunting and stayed dry and for the most part pretty warm in temps around 10 deg for the 10 days. This past weekend a ways Bobcat hunting in the Up of Michigan wearing my Cabelas wool in 15 to 20 deg temps and snow knee deep trailing the dogs thru some tuff wood terrain. NO problem dry and warm made my hunt pretty enjoyable. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wonts to buy the best material for hunting WOOL.

Real Wool and Real Warmth
Date:
I just received my wool shirt-jac and initially I was concerned about the size. The sizing is accurate. I take a 44 short in a sport coat and as such, ordered a large. The large is big enough to layer underneath but not so big that I swim in it otherwise.
First Impression:
The shirt is more jacket than shirt. In fact, it is a jacket with button sleeves. The weight is substantial and the material (97/3) is soft and non-itchy. The collar is lined with a soft material to keep wool off the neck. Nice touch. Ample pocket room (two sides with zippers) and two breast vertical zip stash pockets. Length is just right. Long enough to keep the drafts from blowing up your, er, um...backside but not so long that you feel like you couldn't draw your hunting knife or pistol from your belt. The full length zipper is topped off with snaps at the bottom and top. The zipper is smooth operating and looks self-healing in the event of a snag.
Practical test:
Took the dog out for a walk this evening (dark 6:30pm and 22 degrees). With only a tee-shirt on under this shirt jac I was warm. Standing I could feel a little wind but had no discomfort at all. Wear much under this and you will be overheating just walking. This will be great on-stand and even better while stalking slowly. The material is VERY quite.
Other observations:
The buttons for the sleeve closure gives two options (two button positions) but only the first or largest position is even possible. If you could button the second position, you would loose your hand to non-circulation. I guess this is tourniquet mode. The only only thing I can figure is the second button is a spare in case you pull the first one loose.
Summary:
This shirt jac is awesome. The price may initially cause you to pause but once you try this on, any reservations will evaporate. Besides, with Cabela's great return policy you have nothing to loose. I highly recommend this product for fall and winter hunters.
