Only a collaboration between the World’s Foremost Outfitter® and the world’s top manufacturer of recreational footwear could result in walking shoes of this quality at a price this affordable. Made exclusively for Cabela’s by Meindl®, these waterproof walkers deliver the outstanding quality and performance you’ve come to expect from both leaders in the outdoor industry. The uppers are durable and attractive suede and nubuck with padded collars and gusseted tongues. 100% waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® membrane keeps water out while allowing perspiration vapor to escape. Meindl Air-Active® removable footbeds conform to the shape of your feet and are backed by cushioning PE foam for maximum comfort. Additional cushioned support is supplied by EVA midsoles, and TPU shanks add torsional stability. Nonmarking rubber outsoles are outfitted with a lug pattern that resists debris collection and affords optimal traction on a wide range of terrain and surfaces. Imported. Men’s sizes: 8-13 D widths. Half sizes to 12. Color: Brown.
I found that both these shoes and their twin, the Meindl Grand Junction hikers, have a really cheap, thin insole. For $18 I bought some good quality insoles to replace the crummy insole provided, and now I have a decent walker. So if you buy these, plan on spending an additional $18-20 to put together some useful shoes.
shoes were too long by at least one whole size (a size 10 was at least a size 11). this started out by trying to find a well built outdoor shoe built in the US of A. rather than state "imported", it would be nice to have country of origin stated.
just wanted to say i bought the Junction Low's and returned them because they were narrow. After reading Ed321's comment I got the GTX and he's absolutely right, they are not made with the same geometry as these 2 Junction models. The meindl GTX are a very good fit for me right out of the box where the junction low's were very tight in the fore foot. My guess is these junctions and the junction low's are the same shape, if one fits you, so will the other. If you have a wider foot, get the GTX.
First, this is more of a comment. These shoes fit like 90% of all shoes out there. I wanted the european 'last' with the 'oblique' fit like. The Meindl GTX Walkers sold by Cabelas have this fit. I have a very wide forefoot (but not a wide foot). I call them my German duck feet. The Meindl GTX fits my foot very well. Think Birkenstock for a comparison. The New Balance SL2 last is similar. These Grand Junction are probably fine, but not what I was looking for. This is a more of a rare criticism of Cabelas...I do love Cabelas, but they need to describe the difference between the Meindls better.
