nice jacket but very heavy
Date:
This jacket is very similar to the regular active jacket but made with FR materials. Unfortunately the technology still has some catching up to do and they still don't make an FR garment that's as light and comfortable as non FR. I have the older Carhartt in Nomex IIIA and this was a problem with that jacket too. It's easily 50 percent heavier than non FR and not as warm. I'm probably being picky here but if you're wearing the thing for 20 hours a day it adds up. I'm a high voltage power lineman so FR clothing is a requirement and we know a thing or two about it. The jacket is very well built and typical of Carhartt durability and style. It's as good as any FR on the market today and has a very high calorie rating. If you need FR Carhartt does it as well as it can be done with the current technologies.
